Community boards

We believe working with people and local organisations within our communities is vital to ensuring that North Lanarkshire fulfils its ambition as the place to Live, Learn, Work, Invest, and Visit.

The main feature of the new approach has been the establishment of nine community boards.

These boards enhance and support community involvement and provide a single approach for local community-led decision-making. We want the boards to be trusted, embraced and accountable to the wider community.

Community groups have a major role to play in making sure this new approach works and we are excited to be working towards this shared ambition.

How it's structured

These boards meet several times a year and local people are encouraged to get involved.

Each community board area supports its own social media channels to ensure progress is reported and important messages are distributed. Representatives from local community groups and community planning partners are involved in the meetings looking at and debating issues that affect the local community.

North Lanarkshire Partnership in its role as the Community Planning Partnership facilitates the community boards so there is a transparent link with public services, key local voluntary groups and our local communities.
