Plains Primary School recently took an exciting trip to Belfast to explore the Titanic museum, thanks to the support of their community.

The trip cost over £3000, but through various fundraising efforts, they made it happen.

Led by Mrs Goldie, Mrs Munro, and Head Teacher Mrs Dickson, the school organized fundraisers and received generous donations from local businesses and individuals.

Plains Evangelical Church, AG Barrs, Warburtons, Tunnocks, and others provided food for the trip, while others gave money, accommodations, and raffle prizes.

Mrs Kelly Goldie said: “Thanks to the overwhelming support of the community, the school covered all expenses and even provided each child with spending money. The extra funds will go towards future school trips. This experience showed the children the power of teamwork and community support.”

But the generosity didn't stop there. The Sky Jacquie Trust, Top and Bottom Shops and Plains Pharmacy, alongside individuals who preferred to remain anonymous, all opened their hearts and wallets to support the cause. Even young Calvin from P6 contributed with his entrepreneurial spirit, selling football cards to chip in.

Thanks also go to Munro Motorhomes for their gracious donation of a two-night stay. And then there was Jean who donated sales from her hand-knitted Easter chicks.

Raffle prizes poured in from across the community highlighting the widespread support for the school trip, with Albion Rovers and Falkirk Football clubs, Airdrie Golf Club, Inverhouse Distillers, Li Lees Chinese takeaway, Families within our school, Immy’s Whinhall Premier shop, Scotmid Clarkston all providing support.
