   The vacancies page is updated every 2 weeks

2. When I visit your vacancies page I see on the screen previously advertised posts which have since closed. How do I see the current vacancies?
   Your computer remembers the last time you visited our site and therefore requires to be refreshed. To refresh your screen press Ctrl + F5. See our Help Technical Guide for more details.

3. Can I download an application form from your website?

   Yes. When applying for an application pack from the website, immediately after posting the form on-line the next screen will ask you if you wish to download an application form. This is available in both Word (.doc) and Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) formats.

4. Is your application form available in large print/Braille/tape/in another language?

   Yes. Please contact the employing department in the first instance or telephone 01698 302335.

5. Where do I send my completed application form?

   You can hand deliver, post, email or fax your completed application to us, depending on which Service of the Council the vacancy is located in as follows:

   Yes.

7. Can I submit a CV instead of an application form?

   No.

8. Can I attach a CV to my application form?

   Only if your application form has been completed in full and the CV only supplies additional information to ensure equality of opportunity.

9. How long will I wait to be advised if I am on the shortleet?

   This can vary, but if you are on the shortleet, you will usually receive a letter within 4-6 weeks of the closing date.

   If you have not been shortleeted you will receive letter, within approximately 4 weeks of the shortleet decision.

10. Is your Recruitment Policy on your website?

    Yes. You will find a range of the Council's Personnel employment policies on Northweb.

11. Can I get travel directions from my home to Council premises on your website?

    Yes. We have Location Maps for most council facilities.

12. What if I'm not happy with the way my application has been treated?

    In the first instance, you need to speak to the department you applied to and you will have a contact name and number on the correspondence. However, if you remain unhappy the Council has a complaints procedure. On NorthWeb, you can fill in an online form, download the leaflet form or request that we post one out to you.

13. Can I submit an application form or CV to be held on file for future vacancies?

    No. Due to the number of applications and vacancies it is impossible for the Council to do this, therefore, we will only accept applications for posts that have been advertised.

14. I applied for a job a month ago, can you put my application forward for a new job without me completing another form?

    No. Due to the number of applications and vacancies it is impossible for the Council to do this, therefore, you will have to submit a new application form.

15. I am a student interested in working during the summer months. Do you have a Vacational Student List?

    Yes. Write to the Head of Personnel Services, Administration Department, North Lanarkshire Council, PO Box 14, Civic Centre, Motherwell ML1 1TW, stating the dates available, qualification your are studying, any work experience and a daytime phone number. The Head of Personnel Services will write to confirm receipt of your letter and inform you that you have been added to the list. The employing department will contact you direct to arrange an interview.

16. I want to become a Skillseeker, how do I do this?

    The Council advertise for a new intake of Skillseekers around July/August. The advert will appear in the local press. Application forms will be made available from the Careers Service.

17. The Council says it is a double tick employer and I have a disability. How will you help me get a job with you?

    Every effort will be made to ensure that you are not disadvantaged at any stage of the recruitment process. If you require an application form or additional information relating to the post in another format, this can be made available on request. If you tick the box on the back of your application form, indicating that you have a disability, then you will be guaranteed an interview if you meet the essential requirements for the post. If you require any assistance with your interview, such as a signer, this will be made available on request.

    Yes. The Council contact should be on the covering letter of the information pack.

19. Do you advertise teaching vacancies in your online bulletin?

    No, North Lanarkshire Council's Teaching Vacancies are advertised through the Times Educational Supplement (TES) jobs website.
