Based within Housing and Social Work Services, Motherwell you will assist the Health and Wellbeing Group within the Council to develop Council public health actions and to work in partnership with the NHS Lanarkshire and other community planning partners to develop health improvement actions across North Lanarkshire.

You will contribute to and support public information and reporting of the outcomes and performance measures of the joint health improvement actions through the North Lanarkshire Partnership and the Council's community and corporate plans.

You will also promote health improvement through partnership and communication networking between Council services and the wider public health workforce and attend and support relevant Committees and working groups of the Council and NHS Lanarkshire as required.

A Degree in Social Sciences/Health or other relevant discipline, combined with a minimum of 3 years substantial experience of interagency liaison in public services, managing services and managing staff as well as planning of social work/health or other relevant services is essential. A relevant post graduate or management qualification and experience of producing plans within set timescales is desirable.

Work Pattern: Thursday, Friday and alternate Wednesday

Job Outline:

To assist the Health and Wellbeing Group within the Council to develop a Council public health actions and to work in partnership with the NHS Lanarkshire and other community planning partners to develop health improvement actions across North Lanarkshire.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

1. To work with the Health and Wellbeing Group to develop actions which improve the health and reduce health inequalities of the residents of North Lanarkshire.

2. To work with Council services to develop and support their contribution to the public health and health improvement agenda.

3. To provide leadership in the development, co-ordination, implementation and monitoring of joint health improvement actions within the Council and partner agencies.

4. To contribute to and support public information and reporting of the outcomes and performance measures of the joint health improvement actions through the North Lanarkshire Partnership and the Council's community and corporate plans.

5. To drive and facilitate partnership working between NLC and others, particularly NHS Lanarkshire and Greater Glasgow and Clyde, in a way which will contribute to the joint health improvement agenda.

6. To identify and disseminate good practice to and with community planning partners in localities and North Lanarkshire Partnership.

7. To promote health improvement through partnership and communication networking between Council services and the wider public health workforce.

8. To attend and support relevant Committees and working groups of the Council and NHS Lanarkshire as required.

9. To deputise for the Planning Manager as required in matters pertaining to health improvement.

10. To undertake such other duties as maybe required.
