Based within Reception Services, Airdrie Social Work, you will contribute to the promotion of social work values and ethos as represented in the Changing Lives agenda and provide a day to day operational management and leadership across designated service areas for an identified group of staff. You will work as a member of the area management team to contribute to the development and implementation of policies, procedures and services in line with national and council policy. You will have lead responsibility for the management of designated staff and services within fieldwork services. You will also monitor and promote standards of practice through the provision of regular structured supervision and consultation to team members. You will ensure the effective management of budgets for your area of responsibility and that the budget is managed in accordance with the council's financial procedures.

A CQSW/DipSW or equivalent, registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) and three years post qualifying experience with a background working in a social care setting are essential. A relevant post graduate or management qualification and previous supervisory/management experience are desirable.

The successful candidate will be subject to a criminal convictions check through Disclosure Scotland.

To manage service delivery in accordance with departmental policies and procedures, so as to fulfil the Department's statutory responsibilities within the framework of relevant legislation, and with particular reference to our community care responsibilities.

Job Description

Job Outline:

1. To manage, give leadership to and support the professional development of a team of
practitioners whose primary focus is community care service delivery.

2. Monitoring and ensuring agreed departmental quality standards are met.

3. To contribute to budgetary management and control to area team level.

4. Promotion of effective use of departmental new technology and information systems.

5. To contribute to the delivery of a well co-ordinated high quality generic duty/reception
service.

6. Participation as a member of the Area Management Team in service development and
innovation, and in other area management team responsibilities as appropriate.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

1. To be responsible for management of staff as determined by line management.

2. To ensure the appropriate allocation of work and maintain effective workload management.

3. To monitor and promote standards of practice through the provision of regular structured supervision/consultation to team members.

4. To identify and assess needs in terms of staff development.

5. To participate in any Departmental training programmes as agreed by line management.

6. To ensure the Council Departmental and Area Team policies and procedures are implemented and followed and advise management of any deficiencies in such policies.

7. To assist in the initiation and development of productive relationships with significant
agencies, groups and individuals within the areas served by the Team and to attend any necessary meeting.

8. To participate in performance management and measurement initiatives including Best Value and to contribute to the measurement of unmet need.

9. To chair meetings and review groups as neccessary.

10. To contribute positively to the work of the Area Team Management Group.

11. To contribute to the development of strategy and policy within the Department and to participate in appropriate working, development and strategy groups.

12. To undertake delegated duties and tasks as determined by line management.
