Based in Motherwell, you will have the experience of Benefits and Council Tax that will enable you to assist with the development and maintenance of Benefits and Council Tax policies and procedures. You will also analyse training requirements and resource pertinent training courses and trainers.
Your responsibilities will include overseeing the maintenance, integrity and security of the benefits and council tax system. You will assist in the compilation of benefit statistics, including completion of DWP statistical returns and in the dissemination of information to other sections, departments and organisations. Other duties will include assisting in the issue of guidelines for new practices.
You will be educated to Standard Grade Level or equivalent, preferably with an IRRV Benefits/Revenues Technician, or equivalent, qualification. You will have experience of processing Benefits and Council Tax application and working knowledge of word processing, database and spreadsheet applications. You will have a positive attitude, possess good communication skills and be able to work on your own initiative and as part of a team. In addition, experience of the Civica computer system and knowledge of document imaging would be desirable.

Job Outline:
Reporting to the Support Team Leader, the Project Support Officer will supervise the Support Team Officers to assist the Revenues and Benefits Section function efficiently and effectively.
1. Supervise direct contact with all providers of Benefits and Council Tax software in relation to updates, amendments and reported incidents.
2. Assist the Support Team Leader develop and maintain Procedure Manuals for Benefits and Council Tax.
3. Assist the Support Team Leader develop and maintain pertinent policies for Benefits and Council Tax, including Business Plans.
4. Assist the Support Team Leader compile an annual Revenues and Benefits specific training plan.
5. Assist the Support Team Leader maintain individual Revenues and Benefits employees training records.
6. Assist the Support Team Leader train staff where appropriate, eg, induction to the section.
7. Assist the Support Team Leader resource pertinent training courses and/or trainers.
8. Assist the Support Team Leader retain checking records for Benefits and Council Tax staff and analyse areas of both group and individual need where additional training is required.
9. Assist the Support Team Leader maintain and update posters and leaflets used by the Revenues and Benefits Section and ensure sufficient stocks are retained to display at First Stop Shops and other outlets.
10. Assist the Support Team Leader maintain the records and evidence in relation to the DWP Performance Standards.
11. Assist the Support Team Leader in implementing new software projects within the Section.
12. Assist the Support Team Leader provide Performance and Management Information Statistics.
13. Provide technical advice by way of software and legislation information to all Council Tax and Benefits staff.
14. Assist the Support Team Leader complete all statutory returns.
15. Supervise the Support Team Officers.
16. Any other duties as directed by the Executive Director.
