Learning and Leisure : Aims

Executive Director, Learning and Leisure Services Christine Pollock "The main aim of Learning and Leisure Services will be to maintain the excellent frontline services currently being delivered, building on best practices and raising standards.

We will be extending the capital building programme to upgrade nurseries, schools and community facilities across North Lanarkshire and complementing this with a curriculum that meets the needs of all learners and helps improve levels of literacy and numeracy.

Co-operative learning will be embedded in learning and teaching across all establishments in North Lanarkshire and we will encourage greater parental involvement in our children's learning.

We will target the health agenda by ensuring all schools and nurseries achieve health-promoting status and extending sporting opportunities for young people and the wider community to increase the time spent on physical activities.

There will be a focus on supporting local communities to engage in the process of community planning and we will actively engage with a staff to deliver quality services, putting service and people first."
