The five service areas of Environmental Services are:-
Facility Support Services is responsible for the management, delivery and development of Building Cleaning and Catering services for Council facilities across North Lanarkshire. In addition Building Cleaning services are provided to PPP schools and Strathclyde Police facilities located within North Lanarkshire. Public toilets are also provided. Land Services is responsible for the management, maintenance and development of environmental resources and open spaces in a sustainable manner, cemeteries and burial grounds service and the management of the Council's fleet of vehicles and plant. Please use the links for more information:-
Planning and Development is responsible for dealing with all aspects of planning from preparing Structure Plans and Local Plans and dealing with planning applications to contributing to corporate policies and project implementation. Protective Services is responsible for the service delivery of a range of food safety, health and safety, environmental health and trading standards services. Roads and Transportation delivers a wide range of services aimed at maintaining and improving the road network and infrastructure within North Lanarkshire, such as:-
- day to day operational aspects of transportation
- design services and technical advice for roads and structures
- maintenance of roads and street lighting
- promotion of road safety
- strategic transport policy planning
