Chief Executive's Office : Principal Activities

The Principal Activities of the Chief Executive's Office are:-

• Devise and manage the mechanisms which enable the smooth and effective corporate operation and performance of the authority.
• Provide the Council with policy advice and co-ordinate the development of appropriate strategies to inform and govern the delivery of Council Services.
• Provide an interpretation of new legislation, policies or service delivery mechanisms including those introduced by the Scottish Parliament, lobbying effectively in pursuit of the Council's priorities and establishing the most effective methods for implementation within the authority.
• Facilitate the development of quality management and service improvement systems across all of the authority's activities and functions and advise the Council, government and external scrutinisers on Council performance towards the achievement of its corporate priorities.
• Create opportunities to improve living and working conditions in North Lanarkshire through the efforts of the authority and in partnership.
• Co-ordinate and develop the Council's role and contribution to major partnership initiatives including the North Lanarkshire Community Plan and local Social Inclusion Partnerships.
• Establish and implement effective arrangements for decentralisation and community consultation continuously improving the ongoing dialogue between the Council and North Lanarkshire residents.
• Maintain an overview of the area including the collation, analysis and dissemination of statistical information, trends and population projections.
• Provide a corporate and co-ordinated emergency planning service for the Council by applying integrated emergency management procedures.
• Manage and deliver the Council's corporate communications, including public relations and links with press and media, publications and advertising.
• Oversee and monitor the activities of the council's existing public private partnerships and support future PPP initiatives
