The introduction of the Supporting People Programme in 2003 requires local authorities to gather specific information on the existing provision of both supported housing and housing support services to people living in mainstream or independent housing. This guide is intended for use by local authority staff who will be operating the database where this information will be stored.
As stated in the guidance notes on the forms, it should be noted that information is being sought on those housing support services currently funded by Transitional Housing Benefit, Special Needs Allowance Package and Resettlement Grant. These services will form the bulk of those housing support services which will be eligible for Supporting People funding. Guidance on the precise range of services eligible for funding under Supporting People will be issued by the Scottish Executive following consultation. It will be important for providers to supply the requested information to ensure continuity of funding for housing support services, which is guaranteed until April 2006.
