Supporting People: Housing Implementation Group

As landlord of 47,000 properties and the main provider of supported accommodation in North Lanarkshire, it is not surprising that the Housing and Property Services Department has a key role to play in the implementation of Supporting People.

The group is concerned with ensuring that the implementation of Supporting People Policy brings about quality, good value housing support services which are tailored to the needs of individual service users in the local authority area.

The group has overseen the mapping of supply of existing housing support provision within the department and facilitating the transfer of funding to Transitional Housing Benefit. In addition the group is concerned with ensuring that Supporting People funding is appropriately used to further:

  • The outcome of the review of housing support provision in sheltered and very sheltered accommodation.
  • Improving client assessment and the management of housing support services to the homeless.
  • Developing an adequate level of floating support for vulnerable tenants in mainstream housing.
