Welcome to North Lanarkshire Council's first Gender Equality Scheme (draft) . The Equality Act 2006 places a duty on the Council to produce a Gender Equality Scheme. We believe that this duty gives us an ideal opportunity to bring together and prioritise issues important to women, men, girls and boys.
North Lanarkshire Council is fully committed to eliminating gender inequality and promoting equality between women, men, girls and boys.
This Gender Equality Scheme is a draft document which will be undergoing consultation throughout the summer months with various interested groups of people living and working in North Lanarkshire. It covers the period 2007 - 2010 and will be reviewed on a yearly basis.

The document will be finalised by September when we will also publish a statement on Equal Pay between women and men.
