Aim
To ensure that all equipment used by Enforcement Officers for Food Safety purposes is properly maintained and calibrated.
Review
This document will be reviewed in the event of any relevant significant changes as necessary and also on an annual basis from the date of implementation.
Corrective Actions
If the procedure is not being adhered to corrective action will be taken which may include revision of this document or staff training, as appropriate.
Policy
It shall be the policy of North Lanarkshire Council to maintain a calibration folder detailing:
· A list of all items of equipment used by Food Safety Enforcement Officers.
· Details of all equipment that requires to be calibrated along with relevant identification/serial numbers.
· Details of sources of approved calibration.
· Relevant calibration test certificates for externally calibrated equipment.
· Details of any equipment removed from service for the purpose of undergoing external calibrations.
Calibration folders will be modified when necessary to take account of the introduction of new items of equipment. The removal from service of any items of equipment will also be recorded.
Calibration folders will be subject to regular external inspection in accordance with relevant ISO 9001:2000 procedures. The folders will also be subject to periodic internal and external audit.
The equipment requirements of the service will be assessed on an annual basis in conjunction with management service reviews and amendments made to the calibration folders as necessary.
Equipment will be serviced and maintained as required and in accordance with the manufacturers recommendations.
