The Structure Plan and Local Plans together form the Development Plan for the area. The Structure Plan takes a long term view of development, considering its general scale and broadly where it should be located.
The approved Structure Plan covering North Lanarkshire is the Glasgow and Clyde Valley Structure Plan 2000, prepared jointly with seven other Councils – East Dunbartonshire, East Renfrewshire, City of Glasgow, Inverclyde, Renfrewshire, South Lanarkshire and West Dunbartonshire. That plan was approved with modifications by the Scottish Ministers in May 2002.
Information on the Glasgow and Clyde Valley Joint Structure Plan 2000 can also be obtained from the Glasgow and Clyde Valley Structure Plan Joint Committee website, or by writing to the Structure Plan Manager, Glasgow and Clyde Valley Structure Plan, 10 Killermont Street, Glasgow G2 3NW.
The Glasgow and the Clyde Valley Structure Plan Joint Committee is undertaking consultation on the Fourth Alteration to the Glasgow and the Clyde Valley Joint Structure Plan 2000.
