Making a Complaint
North Lanarkshire Council is committed to achieving high standards of quality in the delivery of its service. We recognise that things can go wrong despite our best efforts. We want to know when they do so that we can examine the problem, correct mistakes where we are at fault, and most importantly, avoid repeating them in the future.
Further details of the Council's corporate complaints procedure are included in the Publication Scheme.
If you are dissatisfied with the service you have received in relation to a Freedom of Information request, you should in the first instance contact the relevant Department who may be able to resolve the problem quickly without having to use the formal complaints procedure. If you are not happy with the outcome of this, you can request that we review our initial decision. To do so, you can write to us at:-
Corporate Services North Lanarkshire Council PO Box 14, Civic Centre, Motherwell ML1 1TW e-mail: foicomplaints@northlan.gov.uk
If we are unable to resolve any complaint regarding the disclosure of information under the Freedom of Information Act, you can complain to the Scottish Information Commissioner, whose contact details are below. From 1 January 2005, when the general right of access comes into force, there will be a formal appeal mechanism when information is withheld. Further details on this will be available on the Commissioner's web site before that date.
