Publication Scheme - Publicly-Owned Companies, North Lanarkshire Licensing & Other Services

Publicly-owned Companies

The Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act defines "publicly-owned company" as a company which is wholly owned by a Scottish public authority. There are three publicly owned companies wholly owned by North Lanarkshire Council – Broadwood Stadium Company Limited, The Campsies Centre Company Limited and North Lanarkshire Municipal Bank. A separate Publication Scheme will be produced for each of those companies. Each of those Publication Schemes will be submitted to the Information Commissioner for consideration by 31 August 2004 and will come into effect on 30 November 2004.

North Lanarkshire Licensing Board

The Licensing Board for North Lanarkshire is responsible for the administration of licences in respect of the following pieces of legislation:-

  1. The Licensing (Scotland) Act 1976 as amended;
  2. The Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Act 1963; and
  3. The Gaming Act 1968.

North Lanarkshire Licensing Board is elected by North Lanarkshire Council from its elected members. It is, nonetheless, a completely separate legal entity and has its own Publication Scheme. That Publication Scheme is available on NorthWeb, the Council's website at www.northlan.gov.uk. In addition paper copies of that Publication Scheme can be obtained from:

Other Services

Other public services in North Lanarkshire are provided by Strathclyde Joint Fire Board, Strathclyde Joint Police Board and Lanarkshire Valuation Joint Board.
