Public Access Strategy - Review & Analysis Demand Audit

This part of the audit and review aims to build a picture of the 'demand' for access in North Lanarkshire. Traditionally, demand has been measured in terms of the number of people using particular access routes. It is now recognised that this provides only part of the picture. Equally important are the unexpressed and unrealised needs of local communities. In some cases these have been revealed through community participation and consultation. In many others the need is reflected in low activity rates, unhealthy lifestyles and low levels of social inclusion.

Recognising that both hidden and expressed demand have a role to play in shaping the North Lanarkshire Access Strategy, this section comprises the following sections:

  • Information on existing access activity in North Lanarkshire;
  • Information derived from previous community consultation exercises;
  • Information from a questionnaire survey undertaken as part of the present study;
  • Information on population, social inclusion and health within North Lanarkshire.
  • Visitor statistics and data on path users
