Mission statement

"To maximise the benefits of North Lanarkshire's location creating prosperity, achieving social justice, and meeting local needs by providing best value quality services."

Our vision and values

We have a positive vision for our area and communities. We will achieve this vision by creating a system of local government that works closely with the community and our partners.

We will:

  • serve and involve our communities;
  • plan ahead and lead the way in working with our partners;
  • promote equal opportunities and social inclusion (that is, improving the prospects of people and communities suffering from problems such as unemployment, bad health and family breakdown);
  • make the most of opportunities for economic and environmental improvements;
  • provide best value services (ones we will continuously improve);
  • work to the highest standards, and be open and accountable;
  • value people, treat them with dignity, respect, and meet their needs; and
  • be forward thinking and aim to be the best in all we do.

North Lanarkshire will be a place where everyone has access to:

  • good-quality housing;
  • a pleasant, safe environment;
  • the very best employment, education and training opportunities;
  • caring and co-ordinated support and health services that meet people's needs; and
  • attractive and varied leisure and cultural facilities.

This vision shows our commitment to providing excellent public services and creating communities where opportunities and choices are available to all.

Each year we will make sure that we are achieving this vision by monitoring and reporting progress in our annual performance report.
