Community Plan 2008-2012

Welcome to North Lanarkshire Partnership's Community Plan 2008-2012.

The plan sets out a number of major improvements that the North Lanarkshire Partnership (NLP) wants to see in our area in the coming years.  The document details the key themes and outcomes that partners aim to address in the coming years.

Positive outcomes for our local residents can only be achieved by successful partnership working between the main public bodies, the private and voluntary sectors and, of course, the people of North Lanarkshire.

This partnership approach to tackling big issues for our area is known as Community Planning.  It is the responsibility of the council and other key partners to take forward Community Planning in the area to ensure we achieve positive outcomes for our local residents.

The North Lanarkshire Partnership, which brings together the major public agencies, is the main forum for making this happened.  NLP is led by a Board made up of senior representatives from the public agencies and representatives elected by the voluntary sector and includes:

  • North Lanarkshire Council
  • NHS Lanarkshire
  • Strathclyde Police
  • Strathclyde Fire & Rescue
  • The Voluntary Sector
  • Scottish Enterprise
  • Consortium of Further Education Colleges
  • Job Centre Plus
  • Strathclyde Partnership for Transport

Although these bodies are taking the lead through NLP, it will be important that a great many more organisations, groups, local communities and individuals get involved in Community Planning.

Following an extensive consultation period across partner organisations and with local residents a number of additions and amendments were made to the plan, although given their range and detail not all have been reflected in final document.

We hope you find the plan interesting and informative.  We are very aware that our aims are ambitious but with the help and support of the people of North Lanarkshire we are looking forward to the challenge.
