Introduction
Cllr McCabe welcomed all to the meeting, particularly Jim McGonigle, Jobcentre Plus who was attending to deliver a presentation on Pathways to Work. Also welcomed to the meeting were Colin Sloey, NHS Lanarkshire and Madeleine Sullivan, Communities Scotland, representing Roger Popplewell.

Item 4. Community Safety Theme progress
A comprehensive presentation was delivered by Mary Castles, Chair of the Community Safety Partnership on behalf of Chief Superintendent Anne McGuire, who leads the Theme Group (to request a copy, click on the Community Plan link at the side of this page). The Community Safety Partnership structure was recently reviewed with representation now from 9 of the Community Safety Partnership Working Groups, i.e. Domestic Abuse, Antisocial Behaviour, Information Sharing, Wardens, CCTV, MARIM, Home Safety, Transport Safety and Alcohol Mary summarised the priorities and aims of the theme and outlined progress to date.
Cllr McCabe thanked Mary for the presentation and welcomed questions and comments from the Board.

Item 5. Welfare Reform and the Introduction of the Pathways to Work pilot in Lanarkshire
Jim McGonigle, Jobcentre Plus delivered a presentation (copy attached) on this pilot project. He summarised the welfare reform and employment rates, for example since 1997 2.3 million more people have gained employment. The Pathways to Work pilot will be launched officially on 26 April 2006. The NLP Board will receive regular updates relating to its progress in North Lanarkshire.

Item 6. Clyde Valley Community Planning Partnership (CVCPP)
Gavin Whitefield, summarised the report which was the first to the NLP Board from the Clyde Valley Community Planning Partnership. The Board was reminded that CVCPP had representation from key players from Scottish Enterprise, Strathclyde Passenger Transport, Jobcentre Plus, Glasgow Chamber of Commerce and the Minister of Finance, Tom McCabe MP. Following each meeting of CVCPP, a report will be submitted to NLP for information. From the Cities Growth Fund, North Lanarkshire will receive in the next round of funding £1.2 million towards the Ravenscraig link road, Motherwell Station and Summerlee. However, the bulk of funding will remain within Glasgow. From the Derelict Land Strategy and Fund (to 2008), North Lanarkshire, which has the largest derelict land sites in Scotland, will receive £6 million, the same allocation as 2004-06.
The Board noted the contents of the report.
Action: Further CVCPP reports will be provided at future meetings.
