Item 1. Apologies
Apologies were noted from Nicky Munro, Scottish Executive, Tim Davison, NHS Lanarkshire, Gregor McKenzie, NLC, Chief Superintendent Anne McGuire, Strathclyde Police, and David Collie, Jobcentre Plus.
Item 2. Minutes of the Last Meeting
These were agreed as an accurate record.
Item 3. Matters arising –
· Strathclyde Partnership for Transport and the Regional Transport Strategy.
The Regional Strategy consultation process commenced with a workshop in which three partner representatives participated. A letter has been sent to SPT by the Director of Planning and Environment emphasising a number of issues including - public transport access, strategic road networks and promotion of social inclusion. Further consultations will take place in September/October 2006 on final options at which partners will again be able to contribute. Feedback on the consultation will be made at a future NLP Board meeting.
· Consultation on the draft Voluntary Sector Strategy
Scottish Community Development Centre (SCDC) have now been appointed to carry out the consultation process which will take the form of questionnaires and focus groups. The process is expected to be concluded by December 2006.
· Withdrawal of Action Team for Jobs and development of the new Jobcentre Plus Deprived Communities Fund
Stephen McConnachie, Jobcentre Plus, advised the Board that the Action Team for Jobs has been withdrawn and a new fund – Deprived Areas Fund – is being created. Draft proposals are currently with the Jobcentre Plus Office for Scotland and when these have been finalised, further information will be provided to the Board.
Item 4: Lanarkshire Branding Project
Louisa Mahon, Lanarkshire Brand Manager, delivered this detailed presentation (to request a copy, click on the Community Planning link at the side of this page). The target audience for the project is potential investors and companies already signed up to adopt the Brand include Rolls Royce, M&Ds, Morgan Stanley, Visit Scotland and Supercounty.
A website has been set up which is being populated and partners can access this via www.lanarkshire.com
The partner agencies were asked to provide relevant items for inclusion on the site e.g. public relations, news items and projects currently taking place. Louisa will be happy to meet NLP representatives on an individual basis to discuss this.
Cllr McCabe thanked Louisa for this informative presentation.
