Mark Griffin elected councillor at Kilsyth by election
 

Mark Griffin has been elected to serve as one of the three members for Ward 1 (Kilsyth) following yesterday's by election.  The percentage poll was 32.1%, the electoral quota 1,465 and the number of first preference votes polled for each candidate at stage 1 was as follows:

 

  • Robert Burgess, Scottish Conservatives and Unionist – 50 votes.
  • Stuart Douglas, Scottish Liberal Democrats – 17 votes.
  • Claire Fyvie, Scottish National Party – 891 votes.
  • Mark Griffin, Scottish Labour Party – 1,855 votes.
  • Rob Kay, Scottish Green Party – 66 votes.
  • Willie O'Neill, Scottish Socialist Party – 48 votes.

20 ballot papers were rejected.

 

Since the electoral quota had been achieved at the first stage, Mark Griffin was elected to the council.
