Access NL is North Lanarkshire Leisure's flagship membership scheme offering unlimited use of swimming pools, health suites, fitness studios and classes at North Lanarkshire participating centres and has grown from strength to strength since it was launched in November 2003.

With more and more services and facilities available for 2008 than ever before through continued investment, Access NL will continue to provide an affordable way to a fitter future when the annual price increase is implemented at the start of the new financial year.

Membership rates will rise from Tuesday 1 April 2008 – the first rise since April 2006 – with no price increase for juvenile members. This means that a standard adult membership will increase from £32 per month to £33.50, and passport to leisure holders' memberships increasing from £16 per month to £17.

Blane Dodds, Chief Executive of North Lanarkshire Leisure Ltd – the not-for-profit organisation established by North Lanarkshire Council in September 2006 – said: "North Lanarkshire Leisure is committed to providing best value, quality leisure services for the people of North Lanarkshire and as we progress through our second year of operation, I am confident that we will build on the many successes of our first year of operation.

"In 2008, Access NL will continue to provide excellent value for money with adult memberships starting from around 55p per day for Passport to Leisure holders and child memberships starting from around 35p per day. We have kept any increase to the absolute minimum – slightly above inflation – without compromising on the quality of the service we provide to the residents of North Lanarkshire and we are confident that this still provides great value for our members. As a charity, our income is invested to improve the quality and value for money of our services and facilities.

"We will continue to enhance the amenities on offer to Access NL members as well as all users and visitors to our facilities across North Lanarkshire. A prime example of this is the new £150,000 state-of-the-art Life Fitness gym within the Sir Matt Busby Sports Complex in Bellshill that opened on Thursday 3 January.
