The following population data for the North Lanarkshire Social Inclusion Partnership (SIP) areas is taken from the Voluntary Population Survey (VPS) 2000. Residence Profiles for the SIP areas are available, giving detailed population data by client group and residence types.
Motherwell North Social Inclusion Partnership (SIP) covers the communities of Forgewood, North Motherwell, Orbiston and Viewpark. Population and Residence data is available for these individual communites. The area has 6,500 households. Unlike other inner city SIPs in Scotland, Motherwell North has a stable population with 67% of tenants having lived in the area for 10 years or more.
South Coatbridge SIP is a health based SIP focusing on parts of the following ten community areas with a population of approximately 19,000 people: Barrowfield, Dundyvan, Greenend, Kirkshaws, Kirkwood, Longloan, Old Monkland, Rosehall, Shawhead, Sikeside.
North Lanarkshire SIP contains 20 or more areas many of which are former regeneration areas. These areas are detailed in the table below.
