  • It sets out our approach to ensuring equality of pay as part of the Gender Equality Duty in line with our legal requirements

How did you consult / involve?

  • Extensive consultation has taken place through the recognised trade unions since 1999 on the council's pay model for implementing Job Evaluation results and proposed harmonised conditions of service. The Equal Pay Policy Statement was issued for consultation28 August 2007 with the consultation period ending on 10 October 2007.

What issues were raised?

  • UNISON welcomes the draft and would request that North Lanarkshire Council include a reference to working with Trade Unions particularly when conducting audits, training and regular monitoring. The wording of the Pay Policy Statement was adjusted to accommodate this request.

What is the recommendation for function / policy / service? (include real timescales)

  • Introduce revised policy. Approved at Policy and Resources (Human Resources) Sub- Committee on 8 November 2007
