Roads Network Operations

The Roads Network Operations division comprises five teams; three area based operational teams, an asset team and a street lighting team. The responsibilities of the teams are as follows:

 

Network Teams are based in Cumbernauld, Coatbridge and Motherwell. They carry out inspection and maintenance of all aspects of roads, footways, footpaths and car parks, maintain the list of public roads, footways and footpaths, control winter maintenance operations, supervise construction consents and process public liability claims.

 

The Asset Team develops appropriate asset management and maintenance strategies for road assets and oversees the development of the roads Public Private Partnership (PPP) and maintains the departmental standing list of contractors.

 

Street Lighting Team designs and procures new street lighting installations and maintains street lighting installations connected to the public lighting network. They maintain a list of street lighting assets and develop the asset management and maintenance strategies for those assets. They also manage the procurement of festive lighting installations for the Council.

 

The Council has formed a PPP public limited company, Amey Roads North Lanarkshire (ARNL). This company has been assigned a term maintenance contract to undertake routine, cyclic, structural and winter maintenance operations. The roads service acts as the client and supervises the PPP.
