Gritting Services

North Lanarkshire Council's Gritting Services are carried out in accordance with our Winter Maintenance Policy which includes details of our gritting routes and priorities.

Gritting Routes

If you wish to make a report in relation to gritting routes, you can use the online form for Reporting a Roads Repair, or you can telephone us as detailed in the "Contact Us" box at the right hand side of your screen.

Grit Bins and Salt

Grit bins may be provided at specific locations to assist the local community in areas not on priority routes or at known trouble spots including steep gradients and sharp bends. It is intended that these grit bins are for the self use of the public as an enhancement to the service provided by the Council. Records of existing grit bin locations are held in Roads Area Offices (see location maps at the right hand side of your screen).

If you want to request a grit bin for use in your community, please write to your local area office, at the postal address detailed in the "Contact Us" box. 

At both our Amey Roads North Lanarkshire Ltd contractor depots (Langmuir Road, Bargeddie and Unit 7, Blairlinn Industrial Estate, Cumbernauld), members of the public can uplift small quantities of salt  free of charge, using their own shovel and container.
