Parking for People with Disabilities

Accessing Town Centres can be difficult for people with Disabilities and those with mobility problems.  It is inevitable when going to Town Centres some people will drive or be driven.  If this is the case and they have a valid blue badge they are entitled to park in a disabled car parking space.  Here is a list of all the car parks in Airdrie, Coatbridge and Motherwell with disabled parking spaces available.

As well as these car parking spaces people with valid blue badge can also park on single or double yellow lines as long as there are no loading restrictions.  It is advisable to look at the Traffic Regulation Order Plate (TRO) to ensure that it is ok to park. It is importatnt to note that disabled motorists cannot park in loading bays, bus stops and taxi ranks or on pavements.  All this information will be contained in the Blue Badge Holders Book.

The nightmare of trying to find a disabled parking space in town centre car parks is set to get better. The number of Disabled spaces that are provided in council car parks is set to increase. Watch this space!!!!!
