If the dogs are unclaimed after 7 days they become the responsibility of the Welfare centre. Uplifted dogs can only be returned to owners on a payment of a charge. For Details of dogs uplifted this month use the link below.
The Animal Welfare Officer service also:
- Investigates dog fouling complaints and erects "No Fouling" signs.
- Provides Free Poop Scoops and Bags at all Libraries, First Stop Shops and are also available direct from any Environmental Helath Services Office.
- If you are a resident in North Lanarkshire, we offer a free identity chipping service for your dogs. To request this service, please fill in the online dog chipping request form.
- Issues Fixed penalty Fines to persons who do not clear up after their dogs.
- Provides talks and demonstrations on various aspects of the responsible dog ownership.

Dangerous Dogs are the responsibility of the police. If you have a concern abotu a dangerous dog in your area contact your local Police Station.
