| Because it is important that people know how they can help themselves and their families in an emergency, the government have produced a booklet 'Preparing for Emergencies - What you need to know'. |
 |
It has been delivered to every household in Britain and includes practical, common sense advice on:
- how to prepare for emergencies such as a fire, terrorist attack or natural disaster; and
- what to do in the event of such an emergency.
It also gives you information on what the government is doing to protect the country as a whole.
A Preparing for Emergencies website has also been set up to promote the booklet and includes:
- downloadable copies of the booklet in a range of languages;
- an order form that you can fill in online or print out and post back;
- telephone ordering information (phone 0800 88 77 77 or textphone 08000 859 859);
- a frequently asked questions section; and
- links to other relevant websites and useful contact telephone numbers.
