The Building Standards Section has a major role to play in ensuring public safety relative to Dangerous Buildings.
We will take any necessary action to make safe any buildings or part of a building which has become dangerous. The operation may be carried out by the owners/local authority; where the operations are carried out by the local authority, the costs incurred will be recovered from the owners.
A 24 hour emergency response service is provided.
Advice can be provided on the following topics :-
- Securing of a building against entry
- Removal of parts of the building which are dangerous
- Demolition of the building entirely
- Erection of temporary hoardings
