Cultural Grants

Grants of up to £2,000 are available to organisations or individuals for new projects that benefit the wider public in the arts/cultural field.   All art forms are eligible, including drama, exhibitions, photography, film/video, heritage, music, craft, literature, art and dance.   Projects should be based in North Lanarkshire.

Who Can Apply?

Applications are open to any interested individual, organisation or project with an arts and cultural remit.

What Projects Are Eligible?

Eligible areas cover a wide range of art forms - for example visual arts and crafts, music, dance, drama, photography, literature, film and video - developed through projects that demonstrate new approaches and encourage local participation, professional skills and access within the wider community.

The project should be of direct benefit to the North Lanarkshire public, and usually located within the North Lanarkshire boundaries.

What Projects And Costs Are Not Eligible ?

Projects commencing before the date put forward to Committee cannot be considered.

The scheme is intended to encourage new cultural initiatives, therefore projects that are the same as or similar to previous projects will not be funded.

Projects with a solely educational or social work purpose are excluded. A grant application which is more suited to another department within the Council will be re-directed, and the applicant informed of whom to contact for further information.

Applications for revenue funding (the continued funding of existing projects) will not be considered. Other excluded costs are capital expenditure on buildings, equipment or catering costs unless as an agreed element of the costs of a new project.

How Much Money?

Grants may be awarded up to a maximum of £2,000.

When Can We Apply ?

You can apply any time. Applications are considered in batches with deadlines related to council Committee dates. Please telephone if you wish to know when the next deadline is. You are advised to apply a minimum of four months before the project is likely to commence.

How can I apply?

An application form should be completed and all additional information, i.e. constitution, financial details, programme of activities etc are attached to your application form.   Without these your application cannot be considered by the Committee.   To get a copy of this application use the "Download or Request by Post" box that appears on the right-hand side of your screen.
