As the growing season now begins to slow down for the winter, the brown bin garden waste collection scheme comes the seasons end. The scheme will close down for the winter after the final collections on Friday 14th November 2008.
After this date, all your prunings and other garden waste can be taken for composting, via the garden waste skips, at our recycling centres.
All your grass cuttings, hedge trimmings, flowers, plants, leaves, twigs, small branches and bark can be placed into the brown bin. We would ask you to keep soil to an absolute minimum. Please remove as much as possible from roots and plants
Please do not use plastic bags as these cannot be composted.
During 2007 the brown bins collected and diverted over 13,100 tonnes of garden material for composting, material which would normally end up at the landfill site .
Further information regarding the collection of your brown bin can be found by using the A - Z for bin collection days on this website, by calling Northline on 01698 403110 or use the contact us box at the right
