Civil Marriages - Wedding Choices

Early Booking

We would encourage you to contact a registration office as soon as you have agreed a date with your partner. This would enable us to discuss the date, time and location of your ceremony.

You may choose to be married in any full-time registration office within North Lanarkshire.  To check availability of the date, time and location of your choice, please consult with the registrar well in advance.

Marriage Suites

By arrangement, all marriage suites within North Lanarkshire Council are available for viewing prior to your wedding. At this stage, further details can be given regarding your ceremony.

Music

We offer a selection of background music for your guests as they await your arrival. Alternatively, you may provide your own.

A selection of 'Bridal entrance Music' is available in all offices for the entrance of the Bride. If you prefer, the Bride may walk into the marriage suite to appropriate music of your own personal choice.

Flowers

You can purchase floral arrangements, brides and bridesmaid headdresses and gents buttonholes.   Click on Decorations and Floristry for further information, including costs and who to contact should you require this service.

Poetry

To further enhance your Ceremony, an appropriate reading or the recital of a poem may be included – a selection of these can be obtained from the Registrar. To satisfy legal requirements, religious readings, poems or music are not permitted.

Photography

Photography will be permitted after the marriage ceremony. The Bride and Groom may use their own camera or employ the services of a professional photographer.     We can provide a beautiful backdrop for your wedding photographs.   Click on Viewpark Gardens for more information and contact details to book this venue.

Video recording of the ceremony is also an option for the Bride and Groom. The following conditions must be complied with:

  • Video recording is permitted by prior arrangement with the registrar

  • Only one video camera may be used during a marriage ceremony

  • The equipment must be battery operated

  • The recording may only be made using the lighting available in our premises
