The cemeteries service is managed by the Executive Director of Environmental Services with a net budget in the last financial year of £1,135,514.
We understand that the bereavement process is a traumatic time for families and we aim to provide support in a caring, professional and sensitive manner at this time.
We have endeavoured to assist with this process by including useful contact details for those that are affected by the loss of a loved one or friend.
Our cemeteries service operates as part of the grounds maintenance and estates section of land services.
We manage a number of cemeteries and churchyard burial grounds. The list below shows those which are open, that is, provide new burial plots or lairs and those which are closed, that is, do not provide new lairs.
Making a total of 32 Cemeteries and Churchyards. You have the right to inspect any of our cemeteries or churchyards by prior arrangement with our cemetery administration office.
We are members of the Charter for the Bereaved. This Charter includes a grievance procedure. A copy of this Charter is available on request from our cemetery administration office, alternatively it can be downloaded via the above link. A leaflet is available through our cemetery administration office. We have a set of guiding principles which will help you understand the ethical and social standards that we have adopted.
