The award is designed to show how improved public services have transformed people's lives – and the initiative has certainly done that in North Lanarkshire.

Although the use of Quad Bikes on public footpaths, roads, green spaces and in country parks is very much a national issue, North Lanarkshire has taken the lead in developing a solution that works for local communities, politicians and – crucially – the bikers themselves.

With the help of North Lanarkshire Council, Strathclyde Police and the Scottish Auto Cycle Union (SACU), a dedicated club for the sport is now successfully operating in North Lanarkshire.

North Lanarkshire Scramble and Quad Bike Club - The NLSQBC has been established for some time now and have a rapidly growing membership. Their aim is to create a full time trial and quad bike facility and teach bikers responsible use and care of their bikes and the environment.
