There are over 270 fitness classes running at venues throughout North Lanarkshire. Please read the guidelines below about operational procedures for the sessions to ensure that you gain the most from participating in your chosen activity.
Group Fitness Instructors
- Our Group Fitness Instructors (GFIs) are responsible for your health and safety throughout the class.
- Our GFIs will keep their training up to date by attending Body Training System Quarterly training sessions, and on going personal development.
- Our GFIs will be on time for class, and run sessions as per scheduled times.
- Our GFIs are fully qualified in the disciplines they teach, carry personal public liability insurance and hold up to date music to play 2 licenses.
Clients
- Please ensure that you pass your tickets to your GFI on arrival at the class. This will ensure that your place in the class has been recorded for statistical purposes and will ensure that the GFI is paid the appropriate fee for the class delivered. This is based on attendance recorded through reception.
- Please ensure that you arrive on time for your class. Due to health and safety reasons, if you arrive late you will be turned away, this can be embarrassing for both your GFI and yourself. We are aware that there can be queues at Reception, so please allow adequate time to confirm your place and still be at your class on time.
- Please ensure that you stay for the full session that you are booked into. Leaving early from the class will reduce the benefits of the programme, and can affect the safety of your, and your fellow exercisers', session. If you have to leave early, please advise the instructor beforehand so that they are aware of the situation.
- No outdoor shoes should be worn within the classes, our GFIs will be entitled to refuse entry to classes under these circumstances. This is for hygiene purposes and to ensure the areas are kept as clean as possible for other users comfort.
- Our classes are suitable for all levels and abilities but if you are unsure of the classes please speak to any of our GFI team who will be happy to give you advice on which classes may best suit you.
The Health and Fitness Team
- Monitor sessions on a weekly basis. Any classes running with less than 10 clients is subject to cancellation. This cancellation may take place within immediate effect or at the next quarterly change.
- Discuss programme changes with GFIs prior to cancellation, class changes at each quarterly review.
- Offer clients the opportunity to express their views on the Group Fitness Programme via Group Open Sessions, Questionnaires or Points of View cards.
- Keep the Group Fitness Programmes up to date with current health and fitness trends, and targeting all levels of fitness.
- Ensure that all instructors teaching within North Lanarkshire Council are adhering to our GFI Guidelines. This ensures that we are providing a high calibre of instructors to lead your programmes.
- In the event of instructors holidays / injuries, if we are unable to secure an appropriate instructor to cover the class, then an alternative session may be offered or the class cancelled.
Thank you for taking the time to read these guidelines,
and we hope you continue to enjoy the Group Fitness Programme.
