Resources

Help to outside bodies, groups

It is anticipated that the landscape design service can be expanded to assist a wider range of customer and Community Groups.

For example local neighbourhood groups, community organisations, tenants associations, charitable agencies, government bodies should be able to receive assistance in the preparation of applications for grant aid, towards the preparation of drawings, schedules, bills of quantities and estimates for all aspects of landscape work.

The unit comprises both degree and chartered landscape architects supported by technical and administrative staff and utilises both computer aided design programmes and traditional drafting techniques.

Funding applications for community groups

Groups or individuals wishing to avail themselves of landscape design advice should firstly try to identify a source of funding to cover the implementation costs of building the facility (eg a play area) or carrying out environmental improvements (eg housing surrounds or school grounds) including the cost of the design fees that may be incurred in arriving at a finished scheme.

Landscape Services will be pleased to advise on suitable potential funding bodies that may be prepared to help your project.

Standing list of contractors and consultants

Council Policy is to select contractors from those registered with Construction Line.

Similarly invitations to landscape architectural consultants, quantity surveyors, and planning supervisors are restricted to bone fide practices registered through their appropriate professional bodies.
