Late 1997

Preparation of the North Lanarkshire Biodiversity Action Plan (NLBAP) and individual Habitat and Species Action Plans.

January 1998

NLBAP Core Group formed

April 1998

NLBAP Steering Group formed.

December 1998

Education and Awareness Working Group formed.

 

July 1999

Launch of NLBAP leaflet and questionnaire.

 

November 1999

Launch of NLBAP and Seminar. NLBAP contains 4 habitat and 8 species action plans.

 

Late 1999 to date

Implementation of the action plans.

 

November 2001

NLBAP report 1999 to 2001, produced.  This highlighted actions that were working towards the objectives in the various habitat and species action plans.

 

January 2002

A further 5 species action plans launched.

 

All of 2002

An article a month on biodiversity appeared in all local press.

 

May 2003

North Lanarkshire Biodiversity Officer appointed.

 

June 2003

5 habitat working groups formed to take forward the action and monitoring of the various action plans.  This takes the total to 6 including the Education and Awareness Group.

 

Autumn 2003

First meetings of the working groups.
