Plains Community Centre was known as Plains Hall. The building was built in 1926 as a dance hall and since then has undergone extensive refurbishment and extension to provide a better facility for the community. |

Community based events for senior citizens, mother and toddlers, councillor surgeries, dance classes and church activities all take place in this centre.
Activities such as sporting events, youth projects, music and arts classes, preparation into work and well-organised social functions would be welcomed by Plains Community Centre.
Facilities
Plains Community Centre offers a smaller more intimate venue than most of the community centres in the area. There are two halls of equal size available for let. The main hall at the front of the centre is recommended for dinner dances and social functions, due to its softer surroundings. For this purpose it can retain a maximum of 75 persons for a dinner dance and 90 persons for a disco event, we recommend this hall for social functions as there is a stage set at the rear.
The main hall to the back of the centre is set on a higher level within the community centre, the capacities are the same for this hall, although it is recommended that this plays host to a different type of event. With more robust surroundings this hall is ideal for sporting events or classes of a messy nature.
To compliment main hall requirements there are kitchen facilities available, of catering standard. This makes an ideal venue for bringing in outside caterers or for simply heating through ready prepared food. There is also a fridge, if required.

Plains Community Centre is situated centrally in Plains and is accessible by public transport.

Disabled access
This facility is well suited to persons requiring wheel chair access. There are disabled access points to the building, and all facilities are on ground level. There are also disabled toilets available.
