Overtown Community Centre

Overtown Community Centre was built in 1995. This particular community centre has artistic intention with moulded iron sculptures as a permanent feature of the exterior. With a modern interior this hall presents the perfect setting for a dancing or dining event as well as being adaptable for other community based activities.

Events, which take place in the centre at present include Mother and toddler group, Community Council meetings, Councillor surgeries, bingo evenings, dance classes and keep fit classes.

Facilities

On entering Overtown Community Centre there is a lounge area, set in comfortable surroundings where guests to the centre can sit and relax before commencing with main hall or committee room activities.

The centre has a large main hall capacity of 130 persons for a dinner dance or disco event. To compliment main hall requirements there is a designated bar area from the kitchen to the main hall, which can be used for the purpose of serving alcohol. Patrons are reminded that if alcohol is brought onto the premises there will be an additional license fee.

This centre also has a multi-purpose room suitable for the purposes of small gatherings and clubs or for meetings. This room can seat up to 40 persons at any one time.

Kitchen facilities are of catering standard and can be used for preparing and cooking evening meals for a large function, alternatively these facilities can be used for treating guests to a hot buffet or heating through ready prepared food. There is a fridge available if required.

Transport

Overtown Community Centre is accessible by public transport and a bus stop can be found approximately 30 yards form the centre. For patrons travelling to the venue by car there are 25 car parking spaces available directly outside the centre. There is also access to local taxi firms if required. Disabled access

This facility is well suited to persons requiring wheel chair access. There are disabled access points to the building, and all facilities are on ground level. There are also specially adapted toilet facilities in the centre.
