Facilities and services

Chapelside Community Facility has been operational since 1969 – when Chapelside Primary School vacated the building to move to their new premises. The building dates from the 1880's and in addition to the Community Facility it also houses the Richard Stewart Nursery School. The Community Facility is the base for a number of activities – it contains offices for the Adult Education sub-team, the Youth Work sub team and Phacts (a youth health and peer education project). The North Airdrie Music Project and the Chapelside Women's Health Project are also based there and in addition to a variety of adult education classes and youth activities. Chapelside also acts as an Adult Literacy centre for the area.

The Facility and the Nursery School share use of the main hall, which also has a community café running most days. This front hall can accommodate up to 100 adults seated. In addition to the three office areas there is a large youth work room which can also seat 100 adults and a large crèche facility.

There is one multi-purpose room that is used mainly for adult education groups and the Women's Health Group. There are two sets of toilets – including disabled facilities and a large kitchen area that the café use.

There is a large computer suite within the facility – 12 workstations, which is the focus of much of the adult education work.

Part of the basement area has been converted into facilities for the many AA Groups that use the facility – they have a separate external entrance.

The facility is open on Mondays to Thursdays from 8.30am to 9.30pm and on a Friday from 8.30am to 5.30pm. Opening on a Friday evening and over the weekend is by prior booking only.
