Bronze 1997
Sir Matt Busby Sports Complex, Main Street, Bellshill
Specially commissioned to commemorate Sir Matt Busby CBE who was born in Orbiston, the immediate visual impact of this wall work is explosive. Cast in high relief, the striker and goal keeper figures appear to be breaking free from the sculptural framework of a 4' wide football.
Cast in bronze, the work has a classical feel, but this is classicism with a twist, using a traditional material in a way which reflects timelessness, quality and durability, but which gives a new angle in it's dynamic, bold and vibrant treatment.
Parking for this artwork can be found in the Sir Matt Busby Sport Complex car park.
