Summerlee Heritage Park, Heritage Way, Coatbridge
Artist in residence at Sumerlee between May and December 1993, Mhairi Killin has produced a series of works for the Heritage Park based on the poetry of Janet Hamilton.
Located throughout the Park – at the Coal Mine, Colliery Engine House, Howes Basin and the archaeological site – the text-based works suggest connections between the former industrial practices at Summerlee and Janet Hamilton's poetry. Artefacts such as a historic coal hutch have also been selected to contain and display found items from the site, evocative of the personal life of Summerlee's former workers.
Parking for this artwork can be found in the car park at Summerlee Heritage Park.
