Tired Eyes

by Calum Stirling

Mixed Media 1993

Summerlee Heritage Park, Heritage Way, Coatbridge

Calum Stirling's work was produced during the course of a 6 month residency held at Summerle.

"Tired Eyes", which stands approximately 2 metres high, consists of two elements; a stick of books cast as a single tower in steel powder and G.R.P., and a surrounding jacket of Greenheart timber which serves to frame and support the book stack. In his choice of materials and working techniques, the artist has responded both to the industrial collections of the Museum and the writings of Janet Hamilton (1795 – 1873).

Parking for this artwork can be found in the car park at Summerlee Heritage Park.
