Oil on Plaster 1974
Palacerigg Visitor Centre, Palacerigg Country Park, Palacerigg Road, Cumbernauld
Commissioned to mark the opening of Palacerigg, one of Scotland's first Country Parks, the mural compares images of the Garden of Eden, and depictions of Scottish wildlife with e heavily industrialised vision of the future. Employing quotes from William Blake, the artist argues that "future wildlife depends on man". Keen eyed visitors will notice the artist's signature device of intentionally leaving a small section of the mural unfinished.
Parking for this artwork can be found in the Palacerigg Visitor Centre car park. Opening hours are 10.00am – 4.30pm from October to the end of March and 10.00am – 6.00pm from April to the end of September.
