There are many permanent public artworks in North Lanarkshire. All of the works are unique to the area and in their themes and materials, many of the sculptures relate directly to the local communities within which they are sited.
Created by the UK's & Europe's most highly acclaimed artists, the sculptures are sited outside leisure facilities, in pedestrianised streets, in public gardens, on traffic roundabouts and on Enterprise Zones. All are free of charge & easily accessible.
North Lanarkshire Council, through the Department of Community Services, is committed to the principle that the arts provide a unique and distinctive contribution to the environment. Through the development of it's public art programme, North Lanarkshire Council seeks to embrace a range of art forms, promoting the incorporation of innovative and quality works within capital developments, the refurbishment of buildings and environmental schemes.
