Corten Steel 1985
Aquatec, Mentieth Road, Motherwell
This sculpture is one of a series of works developed from cameos of the Hugh MacDairmid Memorial, Langholm completed in 1985. Here, the artist recalls the youthful experiences for tickling trout in the river Bowmont at Yetholm, where he spent his childhood. The sculpture addresses positive and negative aspects of form, a key concern of the artist at this time.
"Fish and Hand" is made from corten steel, manufactured at Ravenscraig.
"Fish and Hand" is one of a series of artworks which were shown during the Sprig Fling celebrations in Princess Street Gardens, Edinburgh.
Parking for this artwork can be found in the Aquatec car par, Menteith Road.
