Eclipse

Eclipse Art Work at Newmains

by Jim Buckley

Corten Steel 1989

Newmains Cross, Newmains

"This sculpture is based on the arcs which are visible during a lunar or solar eclipse. These elements are constructed to create a sculpture which, because of the delicate balancing involved, looks unstable. In fact the elements are extremely solid when welded to a steel base.

This sculpture was exhibited at the Royal Scottish Academy, Edinburgh in 1989 where it received the Benno Schotz prize.

Th installation of "Eclipse" was supported by British Steel.

Parking for this artwork can be found on the street in Manse Road.
