Caldervale high is a six year non-denominational co-educational school catering for boys and girls between the ages of 11 and 18. The school has a wide range of facilities, which includes, two custom built house blocks each containing cafeteria and dining hall, house offices, secretaries room, discussion rooms, assembly area and toilets. There are also four separate blocks catering for technical subjects, physical education, science and administration. |
| Caldervale attaches the greatest importance to regular consultation between staff and parents. There are parents evenings for each stage of school, at which parents are given an explanation of questions arising at that point in the pupil's education. As well as this members of the senior management team and guidance staff are on hand during school hours to interview parents. The school has a policy of closely monitoring pupils progress and informing parents if they feel there child isn't progressing as expected and arranging measures to help the pupil. |

As well as this there is a broad range of additional educational facilities; these include, two photography dark rooms, resource centre, recording studio and a painting decorating area.
The school runs a wide range of extra-curricular activities. These include 14 clubs catering for many different activities including music clubs, school football teams, basketball club and swimming club.
The school caters for pupils with varying degrees of disabilities and offers ramps in order to ease entry and exit of pupils confined to wheelchairs. The school also encourages disabled pupils to participate as fully as possible in every way of school life.
The nine associated schools with Caldervale high are, Tollbrae Primary, Plains Primary, Petersburn Primary, Kirk O Shotts Primary, Glengowan Primary, Dunrobin Primary, Clarkston Primary, Chapelhall Primary and Calderbank Primary.
Meetings take place throughout the year between the primary head teacher, the head teacher and the assistant head teacher (lower school). Primary seven pupils and their teachers throughout the session make a number of visits to Caldervale. The purpose of these visits is to familiarise the pupils with the school, to give them experiences of the secondary curriculum, to allow them and their teachers to meet various staff and to come into contact with pupils from associated primaries.
Subject and guidance staff as well as the assistant head teacher (guidance and lower school) visits all the primary school to meet the Primary seven pupils and to discuss various matters with primary staff. These visits are intended to make the transaction from primary to secondary as smooth as possible. S6 students from Caldervale also make weekly visits to each primary between September and March.
It is also the schools policy to create and maintain a close partnership with all parts of the community that it serves. This also involves the school collaborating very close with employers. The school has steadily expanded its contacts with local business and industry over the years through work experience opportunities and young enterprise activities from S4 to S6 students.
